Book Project Workshop

Africana Hemispheric Performance, Socially Engaged Actions, and Ceremonies

Supported by a grant from Critical Minded / Allied Media Projects (2021), Dr. Raul Moarquech Ferrera-Balanquet organizes a book proposal workshop from March 1 to June 30, 2021.

The workshop focuses on developing critical essays that understand performance and the body as sites of expression (subjective, historical, sociopolitical, and cultural). It provides diverse research and writing techniques for translating visual and performance art into written critical language. Through practice exercises, workshop-style learning, and individual critiques, this project offers direct support and training to create a network and produce essays for future publication.

Participants and facilitators include performance artists and scholars Anaïs Duplan, Anthony Sims, Clarivel Ruiz, Marcus Marcus, and Raul Moarquech Ferrera-Balanquet.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Center for Afrofuturist Studies/Public Space One.
