Darryl Moton

My current work is my dissertation, entitled The Middle (of) Passage, to be submitted as partial requirement for a Ph.D in English at the University of Iowa in Spring of 2027. It analyzes passing narratives in the 20th and 21st centuries and how they illustrate the construction of whiteness as a racialized group.
I am also a musician who performs solo as the straightedge, industrial doom band I Will (@iwilldeafen); as the downtempo electronic/trip hop act Darryl Zero; as the solo vocal improv/noise act They Can't See Me; as part of the industrial/ambient dub group peAk deAd (@peakdead); and in various other projects betwen Iowa City, Des Moines, and Portland, Oregon.
