Intro to DJing & Moog Mother-32 with SCRAAATCH

SCRAAATCH combines digital DJing techniques with live sound design in performance art pieces and what they call “hybrid DJ” sets. E. uses various synthesizers and sampling via laptop and chukwumaa uses Pioneer DJ equipment. For our workshop, we’ll teach parallel introductory workshops for sound design on a Moog Mother-32 synthesizer and DJing on Pioneer DJ equipment.

Synthesizer attendees will use the Mother-32 to learn the basics of synthesis and sound design, synth patches/presets, and will leave with a copy of their own synth patch. DJ attendees will use Pioneer CDJs, DJM, and Rekordbox (Pioneer’s track organization software) to learn how to play tracks, how to mix between tracks using beatmatching and pitch shifting, and various performance techniques and will leave with their own Rekordbox crate on a flash drive.
